A note on non-guilded allies

Post by DaveMcW » Nov 04th 2006 23:47

You are now allowed to share information and coordinate attacks with your registered allies, even if you are not part of a guild.

However, there are a few rules to prevent non-guilded alliance chains from acting like a huge guild.

1.
The only setups that are allowed to coordinate are:
Alliance Pair: [EMPTY] - MageA - MageB - [EMPTY]
Alliance Triangle: MageA - MageB - MageC - MageA
You won't automatically be punished if you join a bigger alliance chain, but you might be punished if someone farther down the chain attacks the same target as you!

2.
You must stay allied for 24 hours after coordinating attacks together. This gives everyone a chance to see that you are indeed allies.

3.
If you break an alliance, you must decide how to split up your enemies. If you continue to attack the same target as your ex-ally, you may be punished for illegal coordination.

4.
These rules only apply to non-guilded mages. If they sound too restrictive, you are welcome to register as a guild! :)

Example of rule #1.

There is an alliance chain of MageA -> MageB -> MageC -> MageD -> MageE.

Day 1
1:00 - MageX attacks MageA.
3:00 - MageB softens MageX.
3:01 - MageA counters MageX.
11:00 - MageX complains to the server admin that A and B are ganging up on him.
11:01 - The admin does nothing, because A and B are registered allies.

Day 2
1:00 - MageX multiattacks MageA and MageB.
2:00 - MageC sees that his ally has been multiattacked, and pounds MageX into protection.
3:00 - MageB counters MageX.
3:01 - MageA counters MageX.
11:00 - MageX complains to the admins that A, B, and C are ganging up on him.
11:01 - The admin timetwists MageA, and gives a warning to MageC.

What could MageA have done differently?
(pick your favorite answer)
- Tell MageC not to interfere while he is fighting that MageX.
- Before countering MageX, check his chronicles for attacks from MageC.
- Offer MageC an alliance.
- Register a guild with B, C, D, and E as founding members.
