1st Anniversary of THE REINCARNATION - General Annoucement

Greetings to all players of THE REINCARNATION,

my name is GTO and I am the project coordinator and leader of THE REINCARNATION. Today is the first anniversary of THE REINCARNATION project.
In the light of this great moment I would like to use the opportunity the address some words to all players and reflect the past years.

The Past
Even though most of you haven’t joined THE REINCARNATION from the very beginning, many of you know how to play this game from the very first day. You came here, registered an account and started to play. You meet old friends from long forgotten times, you sent messages to old enemies, you chat with old guild mates. It’s like coming home after a very long time out there – missing something essential.
We all have a mutual past ! We played and loved a great game. A game with a great, vivid community ! I played this game for 3 years, making many friends all over the world. I joined a guild and was teached by older, experienced players the tricks and hints of the game. Then the darken age began. The owner of the game started to neglect the game, the server and the community. One game admin after the other left. The community was left alone. While game server were still running and the game owner pledged to keep the game alive, many player realized that they have been let down. The game managment felt silent and so did one game server after the other. This was the day ARCHMAGE died. Many players came back to the bone yard of this great game day by day, still hoping there was a vital spark left somewhere.
Guilds broke up, friends drifted apart.
At this point as small bunch of crazy guys started to work on a feasibility study to rebuild Archmage from the scratch based on the knowledge of game mechanism and the experience of the gameplay. At the beginning this small team called projectX wasnt taken seriously by many. Words of „ugly Archmage clone“ made the round and it took quite some time before a first running early alpha version was presented. Besides many programming problems, hardware was alwalys a limiting factor. During this period some really great guys, DaveMcW and Sogrom joined our team. Shortly Cyrus became the another major developer. With this team the development progress increased significantly. The first main server went online and we were able to provide a more constant gameplay.
Looking back on this day I feel the deepest fullfillment that we achieved to keep the spirit of this great community alive. Friends and enemies are back together, fighting wars like in old times.


The Present
These days we are getting closer to add all main functions to THE REINCARNATION. Running the third reset we have a continuesly growing player community. Blitz server is hosting around 1500 player, Apprentice server around 800 player. During the last months the server hardware has been upgraded and the game engine has been well improved. Announcing a first game release version 1.0 soon we can host much bigger player numbers on the server now. Due to still open copyright questions we continued to improve the design of the game. By now we have several graphics in our hands to give THE REINCARNATION a proper look and style. Throwing a glance on the UBB I think we provide one of the best community services for internet games. Both developers and game admins always have an open ear for comments and suggestions of the player community. Although we have a very active and smart game admins we are facing a really annoying problem mainly on Blitz server. The number of multimaging is still by far too high. There can be an endless discussion about this delicate topic, but game administration will continue it’s policy to punish cheaters making use of all possibilities. Guidelines for these cases are under constant improvement.


The Future
Where do we go? What are the next goals to achieve? This might be the most interesting part for most of you. As we managed to keep this project alive for one year, we are confident we can make it another year. This brings up the question about financing again. THE REINCARNATION is a non-profit project and the game is and will be 100% free. Besides several options that are currently under consideration our main source of money was and still will be donations. Please take note, that one of the current server is a private donation which runs for free at the moment. We are paying only for the main server. Another point is the increased traffic. In may we will hit the 100 GB traffic limit for Blitz the first time. Extra traffic wont kill us, but we have to pay for it. There will be the day, when we have to ask for some donations again. Now the good news: With the next reset we are planning to go officialy public as a MMOPG and start to advertise for THE REINCARNATION to gain more player. First goal is to achieve a player number of 2500 per server. We will continue to improve the design of the game during the rest of this reset.
For the future we want to emphasize on the teamplay characteristics of THE REINCARNATION. This means much more improved functions for guilds and playing as a team. Teamplay will also concern the implemtation ot Quests. Another main project will be a multilanguage game interface, which gives players of different languages the possibility to play on one server against each other.

And now finally:
As a gift to the community and to strengthen friendship between all players we hereby announce the launch of a community server for the beginning of the next reset. The community server will provide serveral features and functions.
